TruSpeed Motorcars Partners With SPEEDTV’s New Program Whipped

TruSpeed Motorcars, 2011 Pirelli World Challenge Champions, have partnered with the producers of SPEEDTV’s new automotive mayhem and driving contest program, Whipped, which will debut in summer of 2012.

TruSpeed, a racing team, performance car preparation shop and performance automotive sales business, will host the competitors of Whipped to its 28,000 sq. ft. facility in Costa Mesa, CA, to perform upgrades that competitors win on the show repeatedly during the show’s lengthy filming.

Whipped, created by Scott Larsen, the creative mind behind ABC’s enormously popular show Wipeout, features competitors running a gauntlet of automotive obstacles in their own cars, risking bodywork and mechanical damage in an effort to demonstrate their driving abilities and win performance parts upgrades and additions to their cars. The concept is simple: Four contestants battle each other while driving around various metal contraptions and giant swinging objects that make up an intimidating automotive obstacle course. The last challenger standing is prepped for one final hurdle – at speed. Whipped’s competitors bring their own equipment to drive on the show – everything from Z28 Camaros to late-model Mustangs to Mercedes C63 AMGs – a wrinkle that both challenges TruSpeed and gives the business a chance to demonstrate its capabilities. Winners of each program receive $25,000 in upgrades to their cars, while second-place finishers win $3,000 in upgrades, all of which TruSpeed will install and tune.

TruSpeed’s General Manager Tyler Tadevic explains: “We were thrilled when the production company behind Whipped approached us to be involved in the race preparation aspect of the show. As a race preparation and luxury performance service center, we’re well equipped to service and upgrade all types of cars, but to date have predominantly focused on high-performance European cars. As the shop that facilitates upgrading and tuning the Whipped winners’ cars, we’ll have a chance both to grow our experience servicing all manner of performance cars, as well as grow our brand awareness as a racing and prep facility.”

He continued, “We’re really proud to have the opportunity to showcase our business and our abilities to a national audience, and growing our association with SPEEDTV is a huge plus for us. As we look to grow our national profile through our expanding racing efforts, this is a perfect opportunity to establish ourselves among a new enthusiast base beyond our Orange County roots.”
