DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – January 27 – On the eve of the first official practice session for the 48th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, several of the Porsche customer teams were involved with fun and important activities other than motor racing. Through the streets of Jacksonville Yesterday, in their hometown of Jacksonville, Brumos Racing decided to try something different, driving vintage Brumos Racing cars on the streets with a couple members of the media and one longtime Rolex 24 fan.  The unique media event, designed to promote this weekend’s Rolex 24, created an unusual scene for motorists.  Brumos Executive Vice President Hurley Haywood led the pack in his No.43 Ecurie Escargot Porsche Carrera RSR that he drove to victory in 1977 at the Rolex 24.   Last year’s Rolex 24 winners Darren Law and David Donohue followed in two other Brumos Racing vintage cars, the No. 59 Porsche 914 Haywood and Peter Gregg drove to their first IMSA Camel GT Championship in 1971 and the No. 59 Porsche 911S IMSA Championship car driven by Haywood and Gregg in 1972. “It was really cool because I could see all the people on the side of the road waving and cheering us on,” said Law, who had longtime Rolex 24 ticket holder Guy Marvin, who will be attending his 36th Rolex 24 this year, in the passenger seat.

Dr. Jim Lowe, known as the “world’s fastest neurosurgeon,” will be racing this weekend in his JLowe Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, but the Los Angeles doctor has a much more important goal than running fast lap times. His team will be sharing their sponsorship dollars with the ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation, an organization whose goal is to help kids prevent brain and spinal cord injuries through school-based educational programs.  Also, in partnership with two of his sponsors, Siemens Gigaset and Enviro Packaging Solutions, JLowe Racing will supply each ten dollar donor with a pine tree planting kit, with the hope of selling 100,000 kits by the end of the month.  Fans can get the details on the team’s web site, www.jloweracing.com

Foametix/Battery Tender Porsche 911 GT3 Cup a “UN” of racing teams With drivers from the U.S., Germany and Austria, and crew members from several other continents, Alex Job Racing has put together a virtual United Nations of Racing team, but Atlanta’s Claudio Burtin is clear that there is only one objective. “First place gets a Rolex Daytona watch, and no one will remember who finishes second,” said Burtin, who has been in sports car racing since 1982.  Alex Job has put all the pieces in place – now all of us have to execute,” said Burtin. TRG goes 24 Hour live video for the Rolex 24 Known for their innovative ways to engage their fans and sponsors, TRG will be launching an all out multimedia assault for this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona. Broadcasting LIVE over the internet during all 24 hours of the race, the team is undertaking a groundbreaking step in getting the fans behind the scenes. Hosted by Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Team Polizei’s Liz Mozes, the team invites everyone to take part in chat room discussions, featuring live video interaction with drivers, team members, as well as intimately bringing you in to team strategy discussions and pit calls.   TRG’s live “PitPass” can be found at: www.theracersgroup.com/PitPass

Starting with the team’s video segments, TRG has a dedicated video channel via YouTube made exclusively to show new content every four hours.
