Last November, 9 Magazine announced Porsche’s intent to build a driving experience facility here in the USA. Currently, Porsche operates two other Driving Experiences; one located at the Silverstone circuit in England and one in Leipzig, Germany.

According to our sources, 9 Magazine has learned that work continues to progress on the Porsche Driving Experience facility in Southern California and it’s slated to open next summer.

This USA facility is situated on 53 acres in Carson near the intersection of the 405 and 110 freeways, about 10 miles south of Los Angeles International Airport. The complex will contain a world-class test track and handling course, including areas where special surfaces replicate rain, ice, and snow conditions. These training sections include the Ice Hill, where a steep slope, computer-controlled water jets, and a low-friction surface will challenge even the most experienced drivers and help them improve their real-world skills. A special off-road area will combine 45-degree declines and ascents – ideal terrain for unleashing a Porsche Cayenne.

Porsche will offer a variety of driving courses for adults and teens and will rent the facility out to car clubs and corporate clients. Another unique aspect of the facility is the Porsche Human Performance Center, which includes a complete sports-science lab and training programs similar to those used to prepare Porsche factory racing drivers.
