Porsche Recalling 911 Carrera, Carrera 4 Cars For Faulty Tailpipes

991_911In a rare occurrence, Porsche is recalling certain versions of its latest 991-series 911 sports car due to a problem with the exhaust pipes of the cars. A recall has been issued that affects 2012-2013 Porsche 991 generation 911 models but only those built from March 7, 2012 until November 12, 2012 which also have to have been fitted with the standard exhaust system and not the sport setup. If you own a 2012-2013 991.

According to Porsche, the exhaust tail-pipes may fracture, causing them to separate from their respective rear mufflers. Should this occur, the tail-pipes could become a hazard for other vehicles on the road, increasing the risk of a crash.

Porsche is in the process of contacting owners of the affected cars. They will be asked to bring their cars to their nearest Porsche dealership, which will replace the rear mufflers free of charge. Porsche will do their best to contact owners regarding the recall but Porsche can also be reached at 1-800-767-7243. Please call your dealer to see if you are affected.
